Turboprops (twin-engine propeller aircraft) are less and less common, but remain in demand on the market, primarily because they do not cost much to run. The way they take off and land means they can land on very short runways, some of which are not accessible to jet aircraft. In the early days they were called taxi planes, and these days they are almost as efficient and cheap to run as very light jets (very small private jets) over short distances, with the advantage of extra cabin space. Just as secure as jets, they also feature pressurised cabins, air conditioning, and sometimes emergency toilets. Their capacity for baggage is limited when the maximum number of passengers has been reached.
